1. Who operates Malody?
KyLan Studio operates Malody and this website. This policy describes how information is handled when you visit the website, use our song-based Chinese learning app or contact us.

2. Information we process
The information depends on the features you use. A user identifier is created even if you have not linked an Apple or Google account.
- Account information: user identifiers, authentication information and, if you choose to link an account, the email address or display name shared by your sign-in provider.
- Learning data: saved songs, vocabulary, lyrics, review results, progress, learning history and app preferences.
- Your submissions: song links, lesson-generation requests, content feedback and messages sent to support.
- Subscriptions: product identifiers, entitlement status, transaction details or receipts needed to verify and restore purchases. The app store processes payments; Malody does not ask you to enter a payment card number.
- Technical information: device details, app version, usage events and connection information processed by the app, servers or integrated services to operate, analyse and protect the service.
3. How information is used
We use information to deliver lessons, save and sync progress, authenticate accounts, process song requests, verify Pro access, restore purchases and respond to support enquiries.
Technical information and usage events help us find errors, understand feature use, improve the product and prevent abuse. Learning material may be generated with AI models and should be checked when accuracy matters.
4. Integrated services
Malody integrates Firebase Authentication for accounts and Google Analytics for Firebase for usage analysis. When purchasing is enabled, RevenueCat helps verify transactions and manage subscription entitlements.
Submitted song links and related audio or lyrics may be processed by hosting services, source platforms and AI providers to create lessons. Do not submit private links, sensitive information or material you are not entitled to use.
Infrastructure providers may process information in countries other than your country of residence. External platforms have their own policies; the links below describe some of the services integrated into Malody.
5. Microphone and speech recognition
Speaking practice requests microphone and speech-recognition permissions when needed. Audio is processed through your device or operating system's recognition service; whether processing happens locally or on a server depends on the platform and your settings.
You can decline or revoke these permissions in device settings. Speaking practice may then be unavailable, but features that do not need the microphone can still be used.
6. Website and device storage
This promotional website does not require an account or provide a contact-data collection form. Contact links open your email application. The website host may process connection information such as IP addresses and access logs to deliver and protect the site.
The app stores preferences, cached content and necessary data on your device. This website does not add third-party advertising or analytics tools; external services you open from it have their own policies.
7. Retention and security
Information is kept for as long as needed for the purposes in this policy, depending on the data type, account status and applicable obligations. Some transaction records, security logs or backups may need to be retained after account deletion to resolve transactions or disputes, protect the service or meet legal requirements.
We use technical measures and access controls to protect information. No transmission or storage system can guarantee absolute security. Contact us if you suspect unauthorised access to your account or data.
8. Your choices and deletion
You can email us to request access to, correction or deletion of your personal information, or discuss rights available where you live. We may need appropriate information to verify account ownership before acting on a request.
For a linked account, open Settings in the app, find Account and select Delete account. This flow removes the account and related learning data from Malody's active systems. If you cannot access the app, you can send a request through our Support page.
Deleting the app or account does not automatically cancel a paid subscription. Manage subscriptions through the App Store or Google Play. Do not email passwords, one-time sign-in codes or payment card information.
9. Younger users
If you are below the age at which you can consent to using the service where you live, use Malody with the involvement and consent of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has provided information inappropriately, contact us so we can review and address it.
10. Policy updates
We may update this policy when features, integrated services or data practices change. The update date appears on this page. Material changes will be communicated in a way appropriate to the service and applicable requirements.
